Who am I?

I'm Matthew Webster-Moore and I'm registered as a sole trader under the name Moore Attuned Editorial. I offer proofreading services to independent authors in or outside the UK.

This privacy policy lets you know how I use your data, in line with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Information I collect from you and why

I collect the following information from you after you fill out my contact form or contact directly via email:

  • your name
  • your email address so I'm able to respond to your enquiries
  • details regarding your project – such as word count or genre – and if agreed, a sample text
  • Your postal address.*

In contacting me, you consent to allow me to contact you (you can withdraw this consent at any time).

Your data will never be used for marketing purposes – such as allowing me to post your testimonial of my work on my website – unless you give your consent.

* If we form an agreement to work together, I require your postal address for invoicing purposes (the invoice itself will be electronic).

How do I collect your personal data?

My website collects cookies while you browse it. Cookies are tiny files used by websites to store temporary information in users’ browsers. They do not allow me to see any personal information nor give me any access to your computer.

I also use Google Analytics to track traffic to my website and the search terms used.

You can use your web browser’s cookie settings to determine how my website uses cookies. If you do not want my website to store cookies on your computer or device, you can amend your browser settings.

I will collect minimal data from you via our communication exchange. I will never lease or sell any information you provide to third parties unless you give me permission, or if I am required to do so by law.

How do I store your personal data, and for how long?

Your files will be stored on my computer's hard drive and my Dropbox account (a file management system that is password protected on my computer). Your email address will be stored in my Outlook email address book. While I preferably keep this data for reference (for ease of communication should we work together in the future), please feel free to contact me to have this data deleted if you wish.

To comply with HMRC, I will need to keep your name and postal address for a minimum of 5 years after the 31 January submission deadline of the relevant tax year.

Who do I share your information with?

No one aside from HMRC, who may request it for auditing.

As I am a sole trader, no one else will have access to your work. Your data will remain strictly confidential. Any testimonals you wish to provide will include only the information you agree to share.
